bushwick17 is a project by costanza francavilla and alex infascelli. it is a 17 minutes improvisation session, recorded in bushwick on a summer afternoon - with no additional edits, mixing or efx. the idea is based on both artists s obsession with the number 17: the concept was to freely capture 17 minutes of their day together, without any thought before the act or any extra sound manipulation after the act. costanza placed 2 mics on the floor in the middle of the room - facing the wall - and played synthesizers while merging herself with dreamlike vocals into ambient floating textures. alex turned on a fan that was abandoned in the studio, placed the electric guitar in front of it, creating ethereal drones, and moving from guitars atmospheres to abruptly exploding yet sultry drums patterns. the result is an hypnotic sonic journey into an indefinite condition of space and time.

tennessee techno: alex falk brings the sound in purified form. his approach has already piqued the interest of many influential djs and producers, and the track *ptr* from his debut ep on proper trax is among the selections included on hessle audio co-founder pangaeas fabriclive 73 mix. falks previous releases have focused on punishing, pulsing, synthetic techno. for his cgi ep, we are treated to another side of falks sound as he allows a bit more house into the mix. limited to 400 copies.

paskal & urban absolutes are celebrating the release of their debut album lux (released in november 2013) with a big bash, encompassing a special remix package and with an illustrious group of liked minded peers. same as with their own work credo of cross-city collaborating (paskal aka alex lives in berlin, urban absolutes aka adrian lives in essen) the twosome assembled half of germany for the first, now available 12inch of the lux remixes.

nobody knows where these guys were beforehand, but this record is a real hit. a new release has emerged from an equally new label - detroit techno archive it reflects the labels name perfectly. the 12inch recording includes six wonderful detroit techno tracks, from a couple of artists. the first associations that come to mind are detroit legends like underground resistance, derrick may, stacey pullen, kenny larkin, and octave one. youll find some old-school techno with a rich groove, multilayered melodies, and some great stories behind them. this is real hi-tech jazz.

brooklyns boroughs are contaminated by creators, so the only surprise hearing alex burkats first 100% silk masters was how subtly exquisite he had nailed them down. patient, swelling loops of new age club mist give way to classic chicago figure-8 bass patterns, and dubby, sampled drum fills punctuate before billowing back out into breathy warehouse atmospherics.
his recent ep for mister saturday night explored more upbeat-oriented dynamics but tarot unwinds with a dreamier deja vu—waves of arpeggiated echoes, strobing stereo shimmer, and low acid warble arcing over a limitless subterranean dance floor. this is hypnotic humanist mantric mystery music for the 21st century, for those invested in what the deck has to hold.

alex niggemann returns to the scene of so many fierce releases with his latest weapons-grade stormer. the berliner pulls out all the stops on this release – tangram (the bright end) is a burner that slowly builds and builds, maintaining just the right amount of tension and release.

following the success of the consumer ep by fellow label owner james johnston comes the praise ep by alex agore, and its a true return to form for him on no matter what. the record opens with the title track >praise< - an inspired tribute to gospel music, keeping all the soul but reimagining it into something more infectious. uplifting keys combine with vocals that will have you trying your best to sing-a-long, over a bass groove that holds it all together. >falling< is a slower affair, with its dream-like chords, airy synthwork, cowbell hits and seamless hats. a perfect track to start a night or to end one. the b-side completes the package with two undeniable house jams. you will soon realise how much you like >theres no love< when its skippy vocal is stuck in your head, hours after hearing it for the first time. >i can feel you< closes out the ep on a deeper note which will have you thinking of moments when the sun is about to rise, yet the night is far from over.

on naughty, the debut release for brooklyn-based free association, chopped soul vocals bask in the glow of detroit-styled synths. underpinning it all is the kind of low slung machine funk a certain mr. weatherall is known to gravitate towards. no surprise, considering the legend himself licensed name in lights ur oskunni for his masterpiece compilation last year. meanwhile, across town, studio barnhus doyen axel boman continues to chart his own musical path. his rub of naughty explores a warm and measured approach that has already found favor with his heroes, dixon and koze. while bomans gaze is directed towards the heavens, bushwick newcomer cameo culture has his sights set squarely on the floor. a distinctive bounce permeates the work of this budding house producer, who brings an undeniable disco swagger to his remix.
